Understand funnels, pages, and variants

Learn how funnels, pages and variants fit together, and find your way around the Funnels list and a funnel's detail page.

Written by Ryan

A funnel holds the pages for one offer. A page is one step a visitor sees, at its own URL path on your domain. A variant is one version of a page, and a page with two or more live variants is an A/B test. Your agent usually builds all three; you review, publish and organize them in Funnels.

How a funnel is built

Each page has a type. The type decides which number granvl optimizes for that page and how conversions are credited.

Page type

Use it for

Landing

The entry page: the offer, a form, or a button that leads to the next step or off-site.

Quiz

A multi-step quiz. Every step lives inside this one page.

Form

A dedicated form page. Multi-step forms also live inside one page.

Thank you

The confirmation and next step after someone converts.

Lead magnet

An HTML guide or ebook delivered as a page of the funnel.

A funnel has at most one Landing, one Quiz, one Form and one Lead magnet page, plus one Thank you page per audience path (a default one, and separate ones for qualified and unqualified leads if you route them). Put different offers in different funnels, and put alternative versions of the same page in variants.

Limits

Limit

Value

Funnels per workspace

250. Archived funnels don't count.

Pages per funnel

5

Variants per page

15. Paused variants count; archived ones don't.

When you hit a limit, granvl tells you which one. Archive what you no longer use, or contact support to raise the cap.

The Funnels list

Open Funnels in the sidebar. The list shows the funnels of the brand picked in the sidebar's brand switcher; All brands shows every funnel in the workspace.

The Funnels list with status, platform, visitors, leads and conversion rate

  • Folder filter: All folders, one of your folders, or No folder. Choose New folder in the same menu to create one.

  • Domain filter: All domains, one domain, or No domain.

  • Date range: Last 7 days, Last 30 days (the default) or Last 90 days. It sets the Visitors, Leads and Conv. rate columns.

  • Sort: Recently updated, Most visitors, Most leads (the default), Newest or Name A–Z. Your choice is remembered in this browser.

Each row shows the funnel's name and URL, its Status (Active, Draft, or No delivery for a live funnel that has nowhere to send leads), the ad platforms its traffic comes from, and Visitors, Leads and Conv. rate. Drafts and funnels without visitors show a dash.

Click a row to open the funnel. The ··· button, or a right-click anywhere on the row, opens Open, Open in new tab, Duplicate and Delete.

Work with several funnels at once

  1. Click Select in the table footer.

  2. Tick the funnels you want.

  3. Use the bar that appears: Move to brand (or Create new brand…), Add to folder (or New folder…), Delete, or Clear.

  4. Click Done when you finish.

Folders belong to a brand. A new folder is created in the brand you have selected, or in your default brand when All brands is selected. A funnel that moves to another brand leaves its old folder. Folders only organize the list; they never change what is served or how it is measured.

Duplicate a funnel

Duplicate (in the row menu, the funnel's ··· menu, or Settings > Danger zone) creates a draft copy named "(Copy)" in the same brand, folder and domain. The copy carries:

  • every page and variant, with their HTML, metadata and traffic weights

  • the lead delivery setup: destinations, field maps, fallbacks and declared form fields

  • every funnel setting, including validation, conversion, phone formats, cookie banner and the qualification rule

Page URLs get a number added (quiz becomes quiz-1) so the copy never claims the original's URLs. Analytics, publish state and archive state are not copied. A duplicate counts toward the funnel limit.

The funnel detail page

The header shows the funnel name, an Active or Draft chip, and the entry page's kind (Quiz, Form or Landing). Click the URL under the name to Go to link, Copy link, or copy the URL with each ad platform's UTM parameters (URL + UTMs or UTMs only). Preview ↗ opens the first page, Settings opens the Settings tab, and ··· holds Publish or Unpublish, Duplicate funnel, Reset statistics, All funnels, Clear all data… and Archive funnel.

A funnel's detail page on the Overview tab

A notice appears above the tabs when a live funnel has no lead delivery (with Connect delivery), and when a share of visitors come from regions that require cookie consent (with Cookie banner).

Tab

What it shows

Overview

The performance chart (Conversions, Conversion rate or Visitors), the pages and variants table with the traffic split and per-variant results, and traffic breakdowns such as sources, regions, campaigns and devices.

Analytics

Summary metrics against the previous period, quiz and SMS verification drop-off, performance by page and variant, acquisition and audience breakdowns, and Lead quality.

Sessions

Visitor journeys with variant, device, location, scroll depth, outcome and ad group. Export CSV downloads them.

Leads

Captured submissions with their answers, attribution, delivery results and CRM stage. Export CSV downloads them.

Delivery

Where leads go: connected destinations and the provider catalog.

Settings

The funnel's configuration, in the sections below.

The date range control on Overview, Analytics, Sessions and Leads offers Past 24 hours, Last 7 days (the default), Last 30 days, Last 90 days and Custom range….

Settings section

What you set there

Details

Name, internal description, Traffic source, Domain, Status (with Publish or Unpublish) and the funnel ID.

Pages

Add, edit or delete pages: name, URL path and type.

Validation

SMS phone verification, phone and email validation, work emails only, the cookie consent banner, TrustedForm and address autocomplete.

Conversion

Funnel goal, the conversion type and value sent to ad platforms, phone and submission-time formats, and lead receipts.

Qualification

Your qualification rule, routing, and how qualified leads are reported.

Lead magnets

PDFs hosted on this funnel's domain.

Field mapping

How form fields map to each destination.

Danger zone

Duplicate funnel, Reset statistics, Clear all data, and Archive funnel or Restore funnel.

To change a page's URL path quickly, click the path at the right of the page tabs on Overview. Paths use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, or "/" for the domain root.

Preview a funnel

Preview ↗ in the header, and Preview on each variant, open the page on a separate preview address. Previews are not tracked, are not indexed by search engines, and their forms don't submit, so you can click through freely.

To share the whole funnel for review, ask your agent for a preview link:

Create a shareable preview link for my funnel so my client can review it.

The agent uses create_preview_link. The link covers every page, shows each page's highest-weighted variant, and stays valid for 7 days. Asking again keeps the same URL and restarts the 7 days.

To test real submissions on the live pages without sending leads anywhere, use a test link. See Run and evaluate an A/B test.

Publish a funnel

Publishing serves the funnel on its domain. Click Publish in the ··· menu or in Settings > Details, or ask your agent. granvl publishes only when:

  • a domain is connected and verified

  • the funnel has at least one page, and no more than one Quiz page

  • every page has at least one variant, its traffic weights total 100, and each variant has content

  • no other live funnel on the same domain uses the same URL path

If something is missing, the message lists what to fix. Every workspace member can publish and unpublish. Unpublish takes the pages offline until you publish again; history is kept.

Some settings, such as the conversion value and phone formats, say Applies on next publish. Publish again after changing them, then open the live URL to check the result.

How conversions are counted

Conversions are credited to the page where the visitor acted, not to the page they land on next.

What happens

What granvl records

A visitor submits a form

A conversion on the variant that hosted the form. Their arrival on the Thank you page is matched to the same conversion, so each visitor counts once per funnel within 24 hours.

A visitor moves on to a later page that isn't a Thank you page

A click-through on the page they left.

A visitor clicks a link marked data-pages-convert

A conversion on the page with the link. Use it for links that leave the funnel, such as a booking or checkout page. On a single-page click-through funnel, external links are marked automatically (legal footer links excepted).

A visitor books in an embedded calendar (Calendly, Cal.com, HubSpot Meetings, Acuity, SavvyCal or TidyCal)

A conversion, when your agent has set the variant's embedded widget. Booking details are never captured.

A form inside an embedded iframe redirects to your Thank you page

A conversion on the page that hosted the embed, if Count thank-you page views as conversions is on in Settings > Qualification.

The pages and variants table shows the number each page is built for:

Archive, restore, and clear data

  • Archive funnel (or Delete in the list) takes the pages offline, stops accepting submissions and removes the funnel from the Funnels list. Its analytics are kept. A funnel with almost no traffic (20 page views or fewer) goes to a deletion bin instead and is permanently deleted after 30 days; contact support within that window if you need it back.

  • Restore funnel in Settings > Danger zone brings an archived funnel back as a draft. Publish it again to serve its pages.

  • Reset statistics starts variant totals, step drop-off, journeys and lead capture from zero. The chart keeps its history and nothing is deleted.

  • Clear all data permanently deletes the funnel's events, journeys, form submission records and lead captures. Pages, variants and settings stay. Type the funnel name to confirm. Use it for a blank slate before ads go live.

Only workspace owners and admins can archive, delete or clear data.
