Give your agent your strategy and context

Where your products, audiences, offers, research and brand voice live in granvl, and how your agent reads them before it writes.

Written by Ryan

Your agent writes sharper pages and ads when it knows what you sell, who buys it, why they buy and what the evidence says. granvl no longer has a single Strategy page. That context now lives in a few places your agent reads from: the workspace memory, the Research library, the Offers page, Copywriting and each brand's branding. Old links to Strategy open Offers.

1. Seed the workspace memory

The workspace memory is a short, CLAUDE.md-style file your agent reads first in every session: what kind of business this is, your brands and domains, your audience, your voice and the learnings that keep paying off. When it is empty, your agent asks a short intake (what kind of operation you run, your name and one-liner, your industry and audience, your voice and your main goal) and saves the answers.

To change it, tell your agent what to remember. It rewrites the file with update_workspace_context.

Remember this for every session: we sell roof replacement in Charlotte, our buyers are homeowners after storm damage, and we never quote a price before an inspection.

2. Write a foundation document

A foundation document keeps your product, audience, offer and evidence together in one place.

  1. Click Research in the sidebar.

  2. Click + New doc.

  3. Enter a Document name, pick a Folder (or Create a new folder…) and add Tags (optional).

  4. Click Create document.

  5. Fill in the five template sections: Product, Market & competitors, Audience & customer voice, Offer and Beliefs & messaging. Changes save as you type.

  6. Click Use as agent context. The button changes to Used as agent context.

Your agent receives the documents set as agent context with every strategy brief, for the brand it is working in: up to 10 of the most recently updated, each up to 20,000 characters. A longer document is cut off there, and your agent can read the rest with get_research_document.

Your agent can also write the document for you, one section at a time.

Fill in the Offer section of our roofing foundation document from the latest research report.

Use + Add source at the bottom of a document to attach a source with its quote and link. Version history lets you restore an earlier version.

3. Add research and evidence

Research reports give your agent cited evidence: customer quotes, competitors, objections and angles. A report is set as agent context when it is filed, and its quotes and sources become evidence rows. See Research an offer with research reports.

Sources you add yourself live in the Evidence view of Research, next to the ones your agent files. Link a source to the audience or offer it supports, and it shows on that audience's or offer's Evidence tab on the Offers page. See Offers field reference.

4. Organize offers by audience

The Offers page groups the offers you test under the audience each one is for, with the product behind them. Each offer can be linked to the funnels and ad campaigns that run it, which gives it CTR, conversion rate, leads and cost per lead for the date range you pick.

The Offers page, with offers grouped by audience

get_strategy_brief returns one product, audience and offer with their linked evidence and the gaps in them, such as an audience with no buying trigger or an offer with no mechanism. It needs the ids of that product, audience and offer. The research documents set as agent context come with every brief, so put anything your agent must always know in a foundation document too.

See Offers field reference for every field.

5. Keep copy in the library

Copywriting stores headlines, subheadlines and ad copy to reuse. Your agent reads the library before it writes and saves new lines with a one-sentence rationale. New agent lines start as testing; a line becomes a winner when a test settles on it, and retired lines are archived so the record of what was tried stays.

For ad body copy, make the first three lines work on their own. Most people see only those before "See more".

Keep each brand's strategy apart

Products, audiences, offers, sources, research documents and copy lines belong to a brand. Pick a brand in the brand switcher to work on its strategy only, or All brands to see everything. See Organize work with brands and brand kits.
