Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Grok Bot, Cursor, or another agent

Add granvl's MCP server to your agent, sign in to your workspace, install the granvl skill, and check that the connection works.

Written by Ryan

granvl works through the AI agent you already use. Your agent connects to granvl's MCP server, which gives it the tools to build funnels, publish pages, set up lead delivery and read your results. Every client uses the same server URL and signs in with your granvl account. Clients that can't sign in can use an API key instead.

Several clients install the granvl skill from this prompt, which you paste once the agent is connected. The steps below call it the skill prompt:

Pull the latest granvl skill (call the granvl get_skill tool) and install it per its instructions so it loads every session.

Before you begin

  • A granvl workspace. See Set up your workspace.

  • The agent you want to connect, installed or open in your browser.

Find the steps in granvl

The same steps appear in three places:

  • During setup, on the Connect your agent step.

  • On Home, under Connect your agent via MCP, while your setup checklist is showing.

  • On the MCP page. Select MCP in the sidebar, then Set up next to your client under Connect an agent. The steps open in a panel. For Claude and ChatGPT, pick Desktop app or CLI at the top. Mark each step Done, next, then select Finish setup.

The Connect Claude panel on the MCP page, with five setup steps

If nothing has connected yet, the MCP page opens on Connect your first agent. Select Connect an agent to see the full page: your Workspace connection (with the server URL and a Copy endpoint button), the list of agents, the granvl skill and your API keys.

Claude

Claude desktop or claude.ai

  1. In Claude, go to Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector.

  2. Name it granvl, paste the server URL as the Remote MCP server URL, then select Add.

  3. Claude opens a browser tab. Sign in to granvl to authorize.

  4. In granvl, select Download skill (.zip) in the connect steps, or Download skill on the MCP page.

  5. In Claude, go to Settings > Capabilities > Skills > Upload skill and pick the ZIP. The skill loads in every chat after that.

Claude Code

Command to add the server:

claude mcp add --transport http granvl https://app.granvl.com/api/mcp

  1. Run the command above in your terminal.

  2. Claude opens a browser tab. Sign in to granvl to authorize.

  3. Paste the skill prompt into Claude.

ChatGPT and Codex

ChatGPT app

In the app, ChatGPT adds the server for you. You paste two prompts.

Add-server prompt:

Add a streamable-HTTP MCP server named "granvl" with url https://app.granvl.com/api/mcp to my MCP config. Don't restart yet: I'll give you a skill to install right after. Restart once the skill is installed.

Skill install prompt:

Install this granvl skill ZIP so it loads every session, then restart so granvl connects.

  1. Paste the add-server prompt into ChatGPT.

  2. On first use, ChatGPT opens a browser tab. Sign in to granvl to authorize.

  3. In granvl, select Download skill (.zip).

  4. Drag the ZIP into your ChatGPT chat and paste the skill install prompt.

Codex CLI

Block to add to your Codex config:

[mcp_servers.granvl]
url = "https://app.granvl.com/api/mcp"
startup_timeout_sec = 60

  1. Add the block above to ~/.codex/config.toml. Create the file if it doesn't exist.

  2. Restart your Codex session. On first use, it opens a browser tab so you can sign in. If your build needs a token instead, create an API key (see "Any other MCP client" below) and add it as a Bearer header.

  3. Paste the skill prompt into Codex.

The startup_timeout_sec = 60 line gives Codex longer to load granvl's tools on a slow connection.

If Codex says the granvl tools are unavailable

Codex can keep an older login that no longer works. Sign in again, then start a new thread:

  • CLI: run codex mcp login granvl.

  • Desktop app: go to Settings > MCP servers > granvl and sign in.

Grok Bot

Grok Bot adds servers from the chat, not from a settings screen.

Add-server prompt:

Add a custom MCP server called granvl at https://app.granvl.com/api/mcp. It uses OAuth, so authorize it when the connect card appears.

  1. Open a chat with your bot and paste the add-server prompt. Keep the words "custom MCP server": without them, the bot may look for a marketplace plugin instead.

  2. The bot shows the server's name and URL. Check the URL matches, then select Add it.

  3. The bot posts a connect card. Select Authorize, sign in to granvl in the browser, and approve access.

  4. In the chat, type @ and pick granvl so the bot can use the tools.

  5. Paste the skill prompt.

If the plugin shows Disabled by team admin, Grok Bot is following your Cursor team's connector policy. An admin enables it under Team Marketplace > Plugins (on Enterprise, they also add the server URL to the MCP allowlist). Then restart the app.

Cursor

If you add the server by editing Cursor's mcp.json file, the entry looks like this:

{
"mcpServers": {
"granvl": {
"url": "https://app.granvl.com/api/mcp"
}
}
}

Skill install prompt:

Unzip the granvl-app.zip I just downloaded into .cursor/skills/granvl-app/ in this project and reload, so the granvl skill loads every session.

  1. Add granvl as an MCP server in Cursor with the server URL.

  2. Sign in to granvl when Cursor asks you to authorize.

  3. In granvl, select Download skill (.zip).

  4. Paste the skill install prompt into a Cursor agent chat. Cursor loads project skills from .cursor/skills.

Any other MCP client

Any client that supports remote MCP servers can connect with an API key.

  1. On the MCP page, select Set up next to Other.

  2. Copy the MCP endpoint.

  3. Under Bearer key, select Create an API key and copy the key. It is shown once.

  4. In your client, send the key with every request as an Authorization: Bearer <key> header.

You can also create keys with + New API key on the MCP page, or in Settings > API. Only workspace owners and admins can create keys. To cut off a key, select Revoke next to it on the MCP page. Agents using it lose access immediately.

Restart your agent

Your agent loads a new connection and skill only in a fresh session.

Agent

What to do

Claude

Quit and reopen the desktop app. In the browser, open a new chat.

ChatGPT or Codex

Close the app or terminal session fully, open it again, and start a new conversation.

Grok Bot

Attach granvl with @ in the chat, then start a new task.

Cursor

Run Reload Window from the command palette, then open a new agent chat.

Check the connection

  1. Ask your agent to use granvl, for example: "Use granvl to list my workspaces and my funnels."

  2. Open the MCP page. Workspace connection reads Connected with the time your agent was last active.

  3. Ask your agent Granvl: confirm the skill is installed. The reply should begin with Granvl skill ready. See Install and verify the granvl skill.

Idle on the MCP page means no activity in the last 24 hours. Not connected means granvl has never seen your agent.

Choose which workspace your agent works in

  • Signed in with your granvl account: your agent works in your active workspace, the one selected in the workspace switcher at the bottom of the sidebar. Switching workspaces there also switches your agent. Your agent can also list your workspaces and switch for you with list_workspaces and switch_workspace.

  • Connected with an API key: your agent stays in the workspace where the key was created and can't switch.

If something doesn't work

  • No granvl tools at all: check the server URL and finish the sign-in step, then restart your agent and start a new session.

  • Ad tools are missing: the Meta and Google Ads build tools are listed once your workspace has an ad account connected. Connect one on the Meta Ads or Google Ads page, then start a new session. See Connect ad accounts and read performance.

  • Your agent built in the wrong workspace: switch workspaces in the sidebar (or ask your agent to call switch_workspace), then repeat the request.
