Your agent can pull the ads running for a niche or for one named competitor, write down what each ad sells and how it opens, and read the landing pages those ads send to. Everything lands in Research, under Ads and Landing pages, so you keep what you paid for and your agent can check it before spending credits again.
Before you begin
Connect your agent to granvl. See Connect your agent.
Pulling ads and tearing down pages use Tool credits. Your agent shows the cost first. See Tool credits.
Pull competitor ads
There are two ways to search:
You want | Ask with | Example |
Everything running for a niche | The service, in plain words. This is the default. | "roof replacement financing" |
One competitor's ads | Their brand name or website domain. The domain is the most precise. | "acmeroofing.com" |
Ask your agent.
Your agent checks the ads already saved in your workspace (free), so it doesn't pay for the same competitor twice.
Your agent gets an estimate and tells you the credits. Nothing runs yet.
Say yes. granvl pulls the ads and saves every one to Research > Ads.
Your agent writes each ad's offer and hook in its own words and files them on the cards (free).

What ads is acmeroofing.com running right now?
When you name a competitor, your agent can tell you whether the ads matched that advertiser or whether the ad library fell back to its best guess for the name.
What a pull covers
National and US-oriented. The search returns English-language ads. There is no country or city filter, so search for the service, not the place. Advertisers whose landing page is on a non-US country domain are dropped.
Running now. Only ads that are live, unless you ask for older ones too.
Filters. Platform (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) and format (video, image, carousel).
Size. 12 ads by default, up to 50 in one pull.
Relevance. For a niche search, granvl keeps ads that mention the service you asked about. If fewer than three do, it keeps the ad library's own ranking.
Order. Longest-running first. An ad that has run for months is usually paying for itself.
No duplicates. The same creative placed several times is collapsed into one ad.
Each ad comes back with its headline, body, call to action, format, platforms, days running, landing page and a thumbnail. The landing page is blank when the ad links to a social short link or a tracking link with an unfilled template, because those can't be torn down.
Research reports pull ads for their niche too, and those ads are saved to Research > Ads in the same way. See Research an offer with research reports.
Read the Ads view
Click Research in the sidebar.
Click the Ads pill. The number on it is how many ads are saved.
Each card shows the thumbnail, a Live chip when the ad is running, how many days it has run, the competitor and platforms, the headline, the Offer and Hook your agent filed (or Not summarised yet), the angle, a Lander torn down chip when its page has been read, a link to the landing page and when the ad was last pulled.
Click a card to open its landing page in a new tab.
Click the star to keep an ad in Starred.
Click Remove to delete an ad from your library.
Control | Options |
Competitor | All competitors or one competitor |
Platform | All platforms or one platform |
Format | All formats or one format |
Show | All ads, Running now, Starred, With offer and hook, Not summarised yet |
Sort | Longest running ↓ or Newest first ↓ (most recently pulled) |
Search | Competitors, headlines, offers or hooks |
Images and videos stay on the ad library's servers. granvl doesn't copy them.
Offer, hook and angle
After a pull, your agent files its own wording for each ad with save_competitor_insights:
Field | What it holds |
Offer | What the ad sells and on what terms. |
Hook | The opening idea that earns the stop. |
Angle | One of pain-point, aspiration, urgency, value, social-proof, curiosity, authority or comparison. |
Notes | Anything else worth keeping. |
These are your agent's words, not the competitor's copy. Use them to spot patterns, then write your own.
Ad text expires after 30 days
The ad library's terms allow ad text to be kept for 30 days. Thirty days after an ad was last pulled, its headline, body, call to action and media links are cleared. The offer, hook, angle and notes stay, along with the days running and the landing page. The card then reads "Ad text expired after 30 days; re-pull to refresh." Pulling the ad again restores it.
Tear down landing pages
A teardown reads a landing page in a real browser, so pages built with JavaScript work. Your agent gets an estimate first, then runs research_landing_page.
A teardown returns the headline, subheads, calls to action, the fields the form asks for, prices, trust signals and offer lines, plus a screenshot for your agent. The page is summarised, not copied.
It attaches to every saved ad that sends to the same page (same site and path), or to one ad your agent names.
It won't run on social short links or tracking links with unfilled templates.
If a page renders almost empty (blocked, redirected or behind a consent wall), the result says so, and your agent shouldn't draw conclusions from it.
It works on your own pages too.
Tear down the landing pages for the three longest-running ads and compare their forms to ours.
Read the Landing pages view
Click the Landing pages pill in Research. You get one card for each page the saved ads send to.
Chips show Live if any ad sending there is running, the longest run in days, and how many ads send there.
A torn-down page shows its headline, Form (the number of fields and their names), CTA and Prices. Click More for Subheads, Offer lines, Trust signals, All form fields and Ads sending here.
A page that hasn't been torn down says so and suggests what to ask your agent.
Click Open to visit the page.
Filter by competitor, by All pages, Torn down or Not torn down yet, and sort by Longest-running ad ↓ or Most ads ↓. Search covers sites, competitors, headlines and CTAs.
How your agent uses them
Check first.
list_competitor_adsreads what is already saved, for free, before any new pull.Start with the longest runners. They are the strongest signal of what works in the niche.
Compare against your page. Their headline, offer, call to action and form length. What a form asks for is their qualification bar.
Borrow the idea, not the words. Your agent writes your own angle and your own offer.
Cards in chat. In Claude and ChatGPT, results can appear as cards with Borrow this angle, Tear down lander and Open buttons. Tapping a button sends the request to your agent.
Ads your agent pulls are saved under your workspace's default brand, so they show under All brands and under the default brand. See Organize work with brands and brand kits.

Pull one competitor's ads | Tool credits, estimate first. Costs more than a niche search, because granvl looks up the brand and pulls extra ads to filter to that advertiser. |
