Leads go from the visitor's browser straight to your destinations, and granvl never stores contact details. That keeps lead data out of granvl, but it also means a lead is lost if your destination fails to receive it. Lead receipts are an optional safety net: an encrypted copy of each lead that only comes out when you ask for it.
How lead receipts work
When a workspace has receipts on:
The visitor's browser encrypts a complete copy of the submission (all fields, including free text) under a granvl public key before sending it, along with the page it came from, its UTMs and the destinations it was sent to.
The encrypted copy is stored for 21 days in a write-only vault in a separate cloud account, in Canada or the United States as you choose. It's then deleted automatically, whatever your account status.
Nothing on granvl's servers can read a receipt. The only key that opens one is held offline, and it's used only when a workspace owner or admin asks to recover leads their own integration failed to deliver.
Every recovery request is recorded.
Receipts are off unless your workspace turns them on, and you can turn them off at any time.
What granvl can and can't see
granvl can see | granvl can't see |
That a receipt was written for a lead, and for which funnel and variant | What's inside a receipt: names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, free text and every other answer |
The non-contact answers granvl stores for every lead anyway (kept 180 days in the Leads tab) | Contact details, which are never stored outside the sealed receipt |
Your recovery requests and their status | A receipt's contents, until an owner or admin requests recovery for that funnel and date range |
Before you begin
Only workspace owners and admins can turn receipts on or off and request recovery.
Receipts are a dashboard setting. Agents can't change them.
Turn on lead receipts
Go to Settings > Lead receipts.
Under Receipt settings, turn on Keep sealed receipts.
Republish your funnels. The change applies on each funnel's next publish.
To check it's working, open a funnel's Leads tab. New leads show a SEALED badge, and the lead's details show Receipt: Sealed copy written. Other values you may see there are Receipt write failed, Dropped by rate tier (receipts are rate-limited to stop abuse) and No receipt. Traffic identified as bots doesn't get a receipt.
To stop keeping receipts, turn off Keep sealed receipts. granvl stops storing new receipts, and ones already stored are still deleted on their 21-day schedule.
Choose where receipts are stored
Storage region on Settings > Lead receipts sets where the workspace's receipts are kept: Canada or United States.
Choose a region in Storage region.
In the drawer, confirm the region and select Save region.
Only future receipts use the new region. Existing receipts stay where they are until they expire. A funnel can use a different region: open the funnel's Settings tab, then Conversion, and set Lead receipt region to Workspace default, Canada or United States.
Request recovery when a destination failed
If a destination lost leads (for example you got a "Leads may not be delivering" email, or your CRM is missing leads the funnel recorded), ask for them back within 21 days.
Open the funnel and select the Settings tab, then Conversion.
Under Lead receipts, select Request recovery.
Set From and To to the days the leads went missing. The range must fall within the last 21 days.
In What happened, describe what's missing, for example "ActiveCampaign shows no contacts from Oct 1 to 3 although the funnel recorded 12 leads".
Select Send request.
Support confirms that you still hold an owner or admin role, opens the sealed copies for that funnel and date range, and sends the leads back to you securely, never by email. Support doesn't act on a request sent by email alone: requests must come from the dashboard.
A funnel can have one open request at a time. Track requests under Recovery requests on Settings > Lead receipts, where each shows Requested, Fulfilled or Denied, the date range and, once fulfilled, how many leads were returned.
Note: Receipts only exist for leads submitted while receipts were on and the funnel had been republished. Leads older than 21 days can't be recovered.
